Respect Everyone
– Everyone is here to learn and everyone learns in a different way at different pace.
– Bullying, harassment or foul language of any kind will not be tolerated. Remember, there’s always someone bigger or better.
– If you want to learn, listen and pay attention. It’s the best way to progress. Ask relevant questions. If the instructor doesn’t know the answer then we will find it together. No one ever stops learning, this is especially true in BJJ.
Tapping
– Tapping is a great way to train safely with minimal risk of injury. It allows partners to reset and try again.
– You can tap both physically or verbally
– Never celebrate tapping a training partner. It’s disrespectful. There’s no room for ego on the mats.
– Never be afraid to tap. If you’re stuck and can’t move on, Tap! It’s a great way to learn – which is the goal. Injuries are the enemy.
– Tap early, tap often.
Hygiene
The single most important thing you can do for your fellow training partners is keep on top of your hygiene.
This includes:
– Trimmed nails (check weekly)
– Long hair is tied back
– Clean gis after each training session
– Stay off the mats if you are feeling unwell or have open wounds
– Fresh Breath
– No jewellery of any kind
– No bare feet in the washrooms
– No outdoor footwear on the mats
